In some weird way, the neem trees witnessed what may be called the popular uprising against the colonizer and shaded the Mahatma with their green branches. At night, the trees were the refuge for the travelers in the Salt March.

In the same way, the branches of the succulent tree, with the bark that suggests long life, capture what may be called the resistance. The moment the soldiers of the independent Sudan passed, the Sudanese joyfully shook the branches of the neem trees. In December Revolution, that tree presented its leaves to the boys and girls who were advancing the ranks.
